Life Sketch of
His Excellency Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin

Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin was born on 31 January 1946 to late Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asiruddin (FRCS) and Mrs. Shamsun Nahar Asiruddin. He matriculated from St. Gregory's High School (1962), completed his Intermediate from Notre Dame College (1964) and obtained his Honours (1967) and MA (1968) in English Literature from the University of Dhaka.

He joined the BCS (Bangladesh Civil Services) Foreign Affairs with seniority from 13 July 1974. He served abroad as Third & Second Secretary in Bangladesh High Commission, London; First Secretary in Bangladesh High Commission, Nairobi; Counsellor & Deputy Permanent Representative (Minister) in the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations. Prior to his joining as Bangladesh Ambassador to Italy, he was the Chief of Protocol to the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

Ambassador Ziauddin joined his present assignment as the Ambassador to the Republic of Italy on May 15, 2000. Shortly, he also assumed charge as the Bangladesh Ambassador to the Republic of Albania and the Republic of Bosnia & Herzegovina. He is also the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and World Food Programme (WFP).

Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin obtained Diploma in Commercial Policy in 1977 at the GATT/UNCTAD in Geneva, completed Foreign Service Training Course in 1980 at Canberra and did his United States Congressional Fellowship in 1989-90 under the auspices of the American Political Science Association (APSA) in Washington DC.

He is married to Mrs. Yasmeen Delwar Hossain. And they are blessed with a son & a daughter.
