Investimenti Italiani in Bangladesh(in inglese)
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are the cornerstone of Italian economy and as the rubric implies, these types of units are generally rather unwilling to invest in far-flung areas. The significant part of Italian overseas investments has gone to Mediterranean, central and East Europe, and China. Due to continued efforts, the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE) has now accorded Bangladesh along with India in Asia recognition as a priority area for investments by Italian industries. Yet, in Asia, Italian investors are more interested to invest in countries with a double digit economic growth, like China and Malaysia.
Till June 2001, Italian investments in Bangladesh have involved 14 industrial units either on joint-venture or 100% foreign equity foreseeing an investment of approximately US $ 36.257 million.
